Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Applications are complete, prebuilt BI solutions that deliver intuitive, role-based intelligence for everyone in an organization from front line employees to senior management that enable better decisions, actions, and business processes. Designed for heterogeneous environments, these solutions enable organizations to gain insight from a range of data sources and applications including Siebel, Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, and third party systems such as SAP.
Oracle BI Applications are built on the Oracle BI Suite Enterprise Edition, a comprehensive, innovative, and leading BI platform. This enables organizations to realize the value of a packaged BI Application, such as rapid deployment, lower TCO, and built-in best practices, while also being able to very easily extend those solutions to meet their specific needs, or build completely custom BI applications, all on one common BI architecture.

Our company has recently purchased OBIEE and we're contemplating on whether or not to purchase the BI Applications (latest version). I have a couple of questions regarding these BI Applications.
1. Does anyone actually purchase the BI Applications?
2. Of those who purchased the BI Apps...do you actually use them? I've heard people buy them and really don't use them after awhile.
3. Did you find yourself heavily customizing the BI Apps?
4. It appears that the Sales and Marketing BI Apps pull data from Siebel systems, do you know if future versions (possibly for 11g) will pull from Oracle EBS instead?
5. Is there a planned upgrade for BI Apps, for 11g? Does anyone know if Informatica will be replaced by ODI in the future BI Apps versions?
6. (Not really a BI question) Does anyone use ODI for building their data warehouse/mart? I have heard mixed reviews. If not ODI, what tool(s)?
Thanks, any information the community can provide will help us make better decisions.
Thanks

Hello Frankie,
Please see the answer of your question as below.
About 1. Yes Many companies are purchasing BI Apps, even I have completed the implementations in 3,4. This is going to be more important in future. You can have BI Solution in your company with 2,3 months with BI Apps. These are few reasons to have BI Apps.
About 2. Yes definitely companies are using the BI Apps after purchasing. BI Apps provide you unlimited analysis. e.g in Financial Analytics 11g ( 65 Dashboards Pages are there and 557 Dashboard reports are there) Further you can created your desired reports by just dragging and dropping between subject areas. (This really worth the money)
About 3: This depends, If you are using the sources which are not directly available in BI Apps then you need to customize it. Otherwise with certified sources like (EBS) customization is very little.
About 4. Seems you have bit confusion in BI Apps releases. BI Apps 11g (ODI) release can pull the data from both EBS and CRM (sieble etc).
About 5. Customers from 7964 (Informatica release) cannot upgrade directly to BI Apps 11g (ODI release) They have to consider re-implementation. However BI Apps 11g with informatica is coming in the start of next year. Where they will be offcourse an upgrade path. Further as per my assumption Oracle has big plans to carry ODI more over Informatica. But they will not drop Informatica easily (may be till 2015). BI Apps future will be with ODI.
6. ODI is very powerfull tool for Datawarehousing/ ELT things. Many companies are using this tool including Ours.
Let me know if I can help more.

Are you working in VMWare ? It usually happens in that case.
If you are using Windows, try closing the configuration utility, and (re)connect via Remote Desktop (RDP).
